What my clients say…
I worked closely with Frances in her capacity as Senior Architect for a large‑scale commercial refresh. Frances works in a calm and efficient manner, providing expert advice and guidance across multiple stakeholder groups.
Frances readily understood the nuance and the conflicting demands between aesthetics, operational needs, budget, and timeframes.
Specifically:
Frances guided us through strategic and functional briefing workshops with our diverse team — from planners and engineers to project managers — listening carefully to priorities and balancing them with our budget.
Working closely with our cultural liaison group and artist Tiaki Puketapu, Frances ensured Tiaki’s designs were thoughtfully and sensitively integrated into our reception and meeting spaces.
The fitout design embraced the building’s existing features — exposed ceilings, daylight, and views — and complemented them with warm, natural materials and a sustainable fitout.
Through staged construction, the building remained fully operational throughout. Frances’s guidance, clear communication, and practical problem-solving made the process seamless.
The project was delivered on time and has been extremely well received by end users — a brilliant blend of practicality and design.

Centreport Buildings & Landscape
In my role as Senior Project Delivery Manager at CentrePort, I worked with Frances intermittently over a five‑year period as a client engaging architectural services. During this time, Frances was a senior associate at Studio Pacific and led several pieces of feasibility work, as well as the delivery of a large and significant fit‑out project for the port at Shed 39.
Frances led the architectural components of these projects with clarity and confidence, effectively coordinating multiple design disciplines in a timely and reliable manner to ensure successful delivery.
She is a highly solutions‑focused architect with a strong ability to generate practical, well‑considered ideas, even when working within complex operational environments. Through her professionalism, strong work ethic, and trusted advice when challenges arose, I developed a solid professional relationship with Frances that consistently resulted in positive outcomes for CentrePort.
I would have no hesitation in engaging Frances again for architectural advice or services and would thoroughly recommend her to others seeking high‑quality design leadership and guidance.’

Seatoun House
We needed a new kitchen for our 1920’s Seatoun villa, the 1990’s makeover with turquoise cabinetry was no longer functional.
We looked at kitchen companies to order a replacement white kitchen, asking Frances Moughan which firm she used. She said she did not use kitchen firms instead planning and designing bespoke kitchens and joinery to complement the existing home and while keeping within the client’s budget.
This sounded exactly what we needed.
Frances was very approachable, listening to our needs and went above and beyond to design a kitchen in keeping with the character of our home. She included features we had not considered, drawing in the oak of the panelled lounge - creating a visually cohesive concept.
Frances also suggested a more muted tone for joinery, pointing out how bright, white would be reflecting off the sea and morning sun.
To work with Frances was a privilege. Her design intellect and experience brought both inspiration and reassurance. She engaged the building team including joiners, plumbers, tilers & painters, who completed the work on schedule and within budget.
She adapted and liaised with us all throughout the project , making decisions or changes if necessary.
The result is a wonderful transformation, enhancing the home, and testimony to Frances’ considered design.
