Te Korōria Community Hub Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington

  • Seismic strengthening investigations

  • Building upgrade and adaptive reuse

  • Workplace interiors

  • New building including cafe with commercial kitchen, indoor playground, community and counselling rooms

  • Social enterprise

I led the Te Korōria project for the Karori Anglican Parish, guiding the Church through a complex resource consent process and the feasibility of retrofitting and expanding a heritage site. My role focused on translating the Church’s mission into a practical, deliverable project, balancing heritage, compliance, staged construction and operational constraints so the Church could continue functioning throughout the build.

Working closely with a multi-headed community organisation and a wide range of user groups, the project delivers a welcoming “front porch” to the Karori community. The completed development enables the Church to run and expand its core missions — community gathering, counselling, a café, and indoor and outdoor programmes for children, families and older people — in an inclusive setting that supports connection, care and belonging.
